As the winter frost settles over Belgium, the spirit of Khidmat-e-Khalq (service to humanity) is just beginning to heat up. We are thrilled to announce the launch of our annual Old House Visit initiative!

Across the country, our Majalis are heading out to bring companionship, smiles, and support to the elderly in our local communities. In these short, cold days, our Khuddam aim to be the “warmth and sunshine” that brightens the lives of those who often feel most isolated. To help every Khadim stay informed and involved, we have curated this Ultimate Guide to track the progress and activities of each Majlis. This live resource will be updated regularly as more visits take place.

1. Preparations

To make our Old House visits truly special, we need to ensure we are well-prepared. This means we never visit without a token of appreciation for the elders. The preparation phase—be it organizing flowers or getting chocolates ready—is vital to the success of this initiative.

Your Action Item: Stay connected! If you don’t know the plan yet, ask your Qaid or local team today about the schedule for preparations. Your help behind the scenes is just as important as your presence at the visit.

2. Majalis updates

Alken

Majlis Alken demonstrated great efficiency by organizing visits to two different care homes on the 25th of December 2025. A dedicated team of 2 Khuddam and 3 Atfal first visited Rusthuis de Bleuk in Herk-de-Stad, engaging with 70 residents, followed by a visit to Rusthuis Sint-Jozef in Nieuwerkerken, where they reached 110 residents.

Across both locations, the young volunteers focused on providing personal attention and warmth to a total of 180 seniors. These visits are a prime example of how even a small group of Khuddam and Atfal can have a significant regional impact, ensuring that the spirit of Khidmat-e-Khalq (Service to Humanity) reaches multiple communities in the province of Limburg.

Antwerpen

Majlis Antwerp carried out an extensive campaign by visiting three different elderly care homes in a single day. The team, which included Khuddam and very young children, distributed 390 chocolates and personalized cards to residents across Woonzorgcentrum Arthur, Woonzorgcentrum Cocoon, and Woonzorgcentrum Lozanahof.

This large-scale effort was designed to ensure that as many seniors as possible felt the warmth of community companionship. By involving children as young as seven, the Majlis emphasized that the tradition of Khidmat-e-Khalq (Service to Humanity) is a family value rooted in the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. The smiles and gratitude from the 390 residents served as a powerful reminder of the impact that small gestures of kindness can have on a citywide scale.

Hasselt

On December 17, 2025, Majlis Hasselt set a leading example by becoming the very first Majlis among all Majalis to commence the blessed gesture of visiting an “Old House.” With a dedicated team of 11 Khuddam, they visited their local elderly care home in Hasselt to provide companionship and service, successfully being the first to put this initiative into action. This visit serves as a trailblazing effort for the rest of the Majalis to follow in their footsteps. You can witness the spirit of the day through the attached picture and a video report produced by the Majlis Hasselt team, showcasing their commitment to being at the forefront of this noble work.

Following the successful launch of this year’s national initiative in Hasselt, a second group consisting of 6 Khuddam and 3 Atfal visited Hogevijf Woonzorgcentrum. This visit further reinforces the community’s established tradition of providing consistent support and companionship to the elderly in the city. By returning to the care homes in Hasselt, the volunteers demonstrated that the principle of Khidmat-e-Khalq (Service to Humanity) is not a one-time event, but an ongoing duty. The interaction between the young Atfal and the residents created a joyful atmosphere, showcasing the deep-rooted respect for seniors that remains a cornerstone of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community’s local presence.

Liège

On the 22nd of December 2025, a group of 6 Khuddam and 1 Tifl from Majlis Liège visited the Résidence de Bavière. This visit was a practical manifestation of our Islamic duty to honor and serve our elders. By spending the afternoon in conversation and offering companionship, our members aimed to bring comfort and joy to the residents. The inclusion of a Tifl in this visit further highlighted the importance of passing down the spirit of Khidmat-e-Khalq (Service to Humanity) to the next generation. We are grateful to the staff at Résidence de Bavière for welcoming our youth.

Expanding the reach of our national initiative within the city, a second group from Majlis Liège—consisting of 6 Khuddam and 1 Tifl—visited Résidence de Bavière. This was one of two different care homes visited by the Liège Majlis during this period, demonstrating their commitment to reaching as many seniors as possible in the local area.

The team spent the visit engaging with the residents through meaningful conversation and shared companionship. This dual-location effort by Majlis Liège ensures that the spirit of Khidmat-e-Khalq (Service to Humanity) is felt across multiple institutions in the city.

Lier

In line with the ongoing national initiative, a group of 3 Khuddam and 4 Atfal from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community visited Dienstencentrum Het Schoppeke in Lier on the 23rd of December 2025. This visit serves as another example of the community’s established tradition of honoring the elderly, rooted in the Islamic principle of Khidmat-e-Khalq (Service to Humanity). By engaging in meaningful dialogue and offering their time, the volunteers aimed to bridge the gap between generations. The active participation of the Atfal alongside the Khuddam demonstrates how this noble tradition of service is being passed down, ensuring that the spirit of compassion remains a cornerstone of the community’s local efforts in Lier.

Merksem

On December 22, a small but dedicated group of 2 Khuddam and 2 Atfal visited a local elderly care home in Merksem. Following the established national tradition of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, the volunteers focused on providing personal attention and warmth to the residents. This visit exemplifies the community’s commitment to ensuring that even smaller delegations can make a meaningful impact through the Islamic principle of Khidmat-e-Khalq (Service to Humanity). The presence of the Atfal alongside the Khuddam continues to demonstrate the passing of these core values from one generation to the next, ensuring that the elders in Merksem are honored and remembered.

Muqami (Dilbeek)

As the national initiative continues to gain momentum, a group of 7 Khuddam and 5 Atfal visited WZC De Verlosser in Dilbeek on Tuesday 23 December 2025. Following the community’s established tradition of honoring the elderly, the volunteers dedicated their afternoon to providing companionship and comfort to the residents. This visit highlighted the importance of intergenerational engagement, with the Atfal actively participating in conversations and learning firsthand the value of Khidmat-e-Khalq (Service to Humanity). By maintaining this consistent presence in care homes across the country, the Majlis ensures that the Islamic duty of respecting and supporting our seniors remains a living practice.

With a large delegation of 15 Khuddam and Atfal from Majlis Muqami visited Rusthuis Spanjeberg on Christmas Eve. Being one of the final visits of this national campaign, the group brought a high level of energy and spirit to the residents of Zellik.

The large number of participants allowed for many individual conversations, ensuring that a significant portion of the residents received personal attention and companionship. This visit on the 24th of December serves as a fitting milestone toward the end of our collective effort, demonstrating that the Khuddam’s commitment to the elderly remains strong from the first day of the initiative to the very last.

Oostende

Representing the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community at the historic western border of Belgium, a group from Majlis Oostende visited Huize Sint-Jozef. This visit brought together three generations—Atfal, Khuddam, and Ansar—to serve the elderly in a city renowned for its history of peace and remembrance. By bridging the gap between the youngest and oldest members of society, the volunteers spent the afternoon offering companionship and reflecting on the Islamic values of respect and service. The presence of the Atfal alongside the Ansar served as a reminder that the duty of Khidmat-e-Khalq (Service to Humanity) is a lifelong commitment. Despite being located at the far edge of the country, the Majlis demonstrated that the spirit of service reaches every corner of Belgium.

Following their successful visit to Ieper, members from Majlis Oostende extended their efforts today by visiting Residentie Christoff in Jabbeke. This additional visit demonstrates the dedication of the local members to reach seniors not just in their home city, but also in the surrounding municipalities.

The delegation, representing three different age groups (Atfal, Khuddam, and Ansar), spent the afternoon engaging with the residents. By visiting this location on Christmas Eve, the volunteers aimed to provide companionship during a time of year when social connection is most valued. This second outreach effort by the Oostende team highlights the consistent and expanding nature of our national tradition of service across the West Flanders region.

Sint-Truiden

Continuing the national initiative, a team of 4 Khuddam visited WZC Den Akker to offer their time and companionship to 90 residents. The afternoon was spent in dialogue and service, putting the Islamic principle of “Service to Humanity” into practice by honoring our elders. This visit is part of our ongoing effort to ensure that Khuddam across Belgium remain at the forefront of serving their local communities.

Turnhout

Majlis Turnhout brought a lively energy to WZC Aan de Kaai on the 22nd of December 2025, where a team of 6 Khuddam was accompanied by a Tifl. The presence of the younger Tifl was particularly well-received by the residents, sparking bright smiles and heartwarming interactions that spanned generations. The group focused on individual engagement, ensuring that each resident they met felt heard and appreciated. Our gratitude goes to the management at WZC Aan de Kaai for facilitating this visit and allowing our youth to engage so meaningfully with the local community.
